Well ! There is something funny going on !

I have tried to reach the website both from work and home and friends computers, via yahoo, altavista and Google. And used different internetproviders without any luck.

Have Sweden been excluded from accessing the venetian website ? Hey ! I am a IT-supportperson at my work and I dont understand what is going on ?????

I actually had the same thing happen to me for a while, where suddenly from my home computer I couldn%26#39;t access the Venetian website, but from a public computer lab I had no problems. I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox web browser, and this solved my problem. There is something that is funky with that website and it gets finicky sometimes. However, if I try to access the Venetian website now from my regular browser, I have no problem. Yes, it%26#39;s wierd, but I know what you%26#39;re talking about.

I just accessed it by typing venetiandotcom. I have noticed that they have been making cosmetic changes to their reservation site, so maybe this has something to do with it? Keep trying and good luck. You might also try smartervegas.com, click on the venetian promo area and maybe that will take you to the venetian site. It%26#39;s worth a try.

I am a spa junkie and the Qua at Caesars is the best I%26#39;ve EVER been to and I%26#39;ve traveled oversees and all over the US. CHECK IT OUT....even if you don%26#39;t stay there. I am to the point where I just pay the $40 to use the facilities and workout room and I don%26#39;t even get a treatment. The spa is THAT nice.

I am 34 and my boyfriend and I are into the nightlife. Personally, Planet Hollywood is my favorite of all the hotels now. It%26#39;s really fun and a great location. Everything is new and it has a cool vibe. There is a mall attached too. Check it out. We%26#39;ve stayed all over the strip and prefer Caesars and Planet Hollywood over everything..for our age group.

Can you get treatments even if you%26#39;re not staying at Caesar%26#39;s? I know that you can%26#39;t get any treatments at the Bellagio spa unless you%26#39;re staying there.

Have you tried the MGM Spa? I%26#39;m staying at the MGM in December and am thinking about getting a treatment there, but I don%26#39;t want to be disappointed. I had a sugar scrub at NYNY last year and was very unhappy with it; although the spa itself was nice (but tiny).

Qua is open to all, not just Caesars guests.

i totally agree with you - Qua is the best spa i%26#39;ve been to and like you, i%26#39;m a spa junkie -i%26#39;ve been to just about all of them in vegas and AC.

Qua is excellent! For the last post...bathing suits are optional at Qua. I always wear one, but there are plenty of women who don%26#39;t in the spa. The only thing I wish they had was a combined men/women area where my husband and I could meet. We have arranged to meet in the lanconium room (not sure if that%26#39;s spelled correctly), but it felt like we needed secret clearance to meet with our escorts from each side.

i%26#39;ve been to wynn but still like qua the best - the only perk wynn has is a deluge shower - its great for the neck and shoulder area --

i always wear a bathing suit - just because you have to sit in the jacuzzi%26#39;s, etc. - but there are plenty that dont - its all up to you.

Strip nightclub with the biggest dance floor?

I%26#39;m not really into sitting around in a lounge nightclub... looking more for a club with a BIG dancefloor - and loads of bar space if possible. I don%26#39;t want to sit around on couches, don%26#39;t want to fight for room to dance... or even simply maneuver around, and don%26#39;t want to fight for bartender attention. If I wanted that then I%26#39;d just go to the many clubs here in Orlando.

Been to jackcolton.com, napkinnights.com, etc but none of them really talk about the club setup or show any pictures except for the lounge chairs and people there.

I have VIP for either of the 2 MGM Grand clubs (Studio 54 or Tabu). Probably choosing Studio 54, seems like it fits more of my liking.

Side note - Was at LAX last year and had a pretty bad experience. The club was set up almost the way I wanted it, but was packed. No room to dance and had to wait in a bar line like no tomorrow (don%26#39;t even begin with the 1.5 hour wait to get into the club). It was a Friday night and Nicky Hilton%26#39;s B-Day so I%26#39;ll give them some slack.

I hope you find the club you%26#39;re looking for whoisdaman. I%26#39;m thinking you may want to look at jackcolton and go on the nights that are not listed as the hot nights for those particular clubs. That way you have more room to dance. Good luck!

Donny and Marie

We decided to see Donny and Marie the second night after they opened since we were staying at the Flamingo. The show was very good. It is not a big production show although they have some very good dancers with them. My favorite part was actually the section where Donny just sits on a stool in the middle of the stage and sings his hits.

My daughters are handicapped so we were far to the front and right of the stage and could not see what was going on at the back of the stage but almost everything was to the front and center.Donny actually came out into the audience and danced and sang on top of some of the tables.

I do hate the showroom where the show is held. I hate the tables and seating. The place was packed the night we were there and people who did not know each other were squeezed into booths together. We almost didn%26#39;t go to the show because of the room. I think the Flamingo needs to spend some money and upgrade this room.

All of us really enjoyed the show. They both still have great voices and are very comfortable in front of an audience.

Is this show worth the money to go see? It costs $165/ticket. I%26#39;ve heard good things about it but, that is very expensive for a show.

I will be going to it too on my next trip (in 42 days but sho%26#39;e counting). We saw Mystere six years ago and really loved it. We are really looking forward to ';O';. With Cirq shows you are either really going to love it, or you won%26#39;t. We will probably be shelling out the big bucks for real good seats too. I figure you are already investing a certain amount, may as well go whole hog. I know that it will be one of the highlights of our trip, so I know it%26#39;s a good investment. I%26#39;ve heard you don%26#39;t want to sit too close as there is alot to take in.

My husband and I both fell asleep about 20 minutes into the show... I cant really put my finger on why this show didnt keep our interest. Weve seen Mystere, Love and Ka and loved every minute. O was a disappointment for us both because it was so pricey.

I concur, you will either love Cirque du Soleil productions or not. If you want to ';get your feet wet';, go to Mystere because you can probably get discount tickets and, if not, the regular price is still cheaper than ';O'; which, IMHO is worth every pricey penny. I wanted to fall asleep in ';O'; not because it was boring, because it was 10:30 and that rum slushie I bought outside went down very smoothly.

For ';O';, we sat in section 101, row jj. Only two seats in that row and they were listed as obstructed view, but they were great. Seats a few feet over cost quite a bit more. You have to call the box office for these seats, though.

Personally I didn%26#39;t care for ';O'; as much as other shows like KA or the Cirque type show Le Reve. I am glad I saw it once though and I do appreciate what went into it. I wouldn%26#39;t say not to go as everyone has their own taste in shows.

You don%26#39;t need to pay $165. The Limited View seats have already been mentioned and that%26#39;s what I purchased. Mine was in section 203 and about three rows from first row of this section. I was surprised that these seats are called ';Limited View'; because my view not not obstucted. The very next seat beside me was full price! And the 203 section gives you a nice centre view to take in everything and not be too far or high up. The only row I%26#39;d avoid for the Limited view in that section is the first row as there is a railing that might block your view a bit. Other than that row, they%26#39;re awesome seats at an awesome price.

Take note that like KA, it%26#39;s not a typical Cirque type show. If you want then, then I%26#39;d suggest Mystere instead.

we have booked a lakeview deluxe and i have just spoke to resevations who asked if we would like this room on the upper floors?

We%26#39;ve stayed there 8 times. I%26#39;m not sure what a Lakeview Deluxe is.

We stayed in a deluxe in the Spa Tower - not a lakeview.

And the last 7 times we%26#39;ve been in a Lakeview (in the old tower).

Our best ';view'; room was on the 8th floor, direct center, in front of the lake.

The other lakeviews were up high and very nice, too. But the best view was from the 8th floor.

Bellagio Rooms

I alays thought being higher up was better for lakeview and the views were wonderful. But, I now think lower would be better, you see the shows right in front of you that way.

We only stayed once,Lakeview deluxe on the 27th floor, and therefore can%26#39;t compare it to the view from a room on a lower floor, but our view was wonderful.

Our room was about smack-dab in the middle and an awesome view. I love how they pipe in the Fountain Dance Music through their tv channel.

We just came back from a stay at the Bellagio with a lakeview deluxe. We were on the 16th floor, 16-022, wonderful view. The Eiffel tower was right in the middle of our view, amazing! Really beautiful at night. The water fountains at their peaks reached over our views.

The rooms are a bit old and dark. Still the view cannot be beat.

We stayed at the Bellagio in 2006. Not sure which room we had but it was a new room. It was beautiful with an amazing view. The bathroom was the best part. Huge and very nice!!

Ask for a room close to the elevators so you get a central view of the fountains. More important in my opinion than high or low if you want a great view.

Having said that no Deluxe Lakeview rooms have bad views. They have either good views or better ones.

blagger is correct. I think there are no bad views, but IMO mid way is best. We stayed on the 11th floor and I wouldn%26#39;t have wanted to be much higher or lower, it was a nice height to view the fountains. And again, as blagger said, get as close to the elevators as possible, that will put you the closest to the middle of the show.

My husband also loves Timmy%26#39;s coffee. He goes there everday. A couple of years ago when we went to vegas, he brougth a mini coffee maker and tim%26#39;s in his suitcase. When I went with my sister, she really liked Seattles Best coffee. They have a few different blends and there are a few locations on the strip, not sure about downtown.

I really like to buy and grind my own but there are some good quick options too.

I don%26#39;t know about where you live but I was able to find Illy in Vancouver. If you like Illy there is a coffee bar at LVH with Illy.

I sure like Tim Horton for chain coffee too, and I am also not a fan of Starbucks. Maybe we have similar tastes you can find a brew you like.

Sorry, but there is no coffee shops that I have found yet that compares to Tim%26#39;s. I have been to Vegas 5 times and have tried various shops. Dunkin Donuts is not bad, hate Starbuck%26#39;s, might surprise you but McDonald%26#39;s coffee is alright also.

There are no Tim Horton%26#39;s in Vegas. I know cause myself and a (rich) friend (owns 2 in Calgary) has been working on getting a Tim%26#39;s in Vegas for over 3 years now and there is just no way they will allow this.

Orleans Hotel guest room question

Has anyone stayed in the Orleans Hotel recently?

How are the showers in the guest rooms? Is the water temperature good? I mean do you get lots of hot water when you need it? And how are the beds?

Are they soft or firm or in between??

Orleans has the shower/tub combination. Water pressure is OK, and I didn%26#39;t notice any problem with the temperature control. One nice thing about Orleans is that they have a window above the tub, which you can open for fresh air.

Beds seemed average to me. Not up to the standards of a top-end hotel, and if anything a little soft.

I%26#39;ve stayed at The Orleans several times and they have always had plenty of hot water and the best water pressure there. The beds are about medium to me but I hate the way the beds are made. When you pull downtown the spread, the bottom sheet comes untucked. I have no clue why they make their beds this way but it%26#39;s been like this since I%26#39;ve been going there. Overall, The Orleans is a very nice place to stay with plenty of things to do there. It%26#39;s pretty much self contained, enjoy!

One thing to be aware of - we found that the tub did not drain properly, so you ended up in ankle deep water when taking a shower.

That grosses me out! We called maintenance but it never got fixed during our 3 day stay so I took really quick showers!

Yes, I agree the pillows suck. Also, the plastic bed cover they put on under the sheet really retains the heat and makes you sweat more than normal- or maybe it is just the alcohol?? Hmmm...

Against better judgement I booked rooms at the Palazzo for a bachelorette party in august, as opposed to the Wynn (where I normally stay) or TheHotel (where I%26#39;ve had great experiences with groups in the past). I%26#39;m glad to see that the reviews for the Palazzo are getting better, but I%26#39;m slightly concerned the pool area at the Palazzo looks tiny. Any thoughts? Also, has any tried the new aquavana spa at the Palazzo? I%26#39;m not sure if it%26#39;s open yet...

I think you will be happy with your choice. Went to spa at Wynn last August and I have to say I wasn%26#39;t impressed. Liked Bellagio and Mandalay better.

Just called Palazzo Canyon Ranch and they are not quite done with the spa at Palazzo so you will need to use the one at the Venetian. So the Aquavana room is not done.

whooops.....forgot to respond to the pool area at the Palazzo. I reviewed many Palazzo reviews on TA and they say the pool is quite nice and there are pictures. Also it connects to the Venetian pools. Check out the pictures. I think it was Tokoyo Bob%26#39;s.

I%26#39;m not trying to be rude or anything but if it is against your better judgement to trust booking at the Palazzo then I would stay at the Wynn or TheHotel again.

Personally I like the Palazzo.....I%26#39;m just getting annoyed of all of the negative remarks about this hotel. The pool area is very nice and there is plenty of room to move around.....they say you can use the Venetian pool if you stay at the Palazzo also......so that would be a plus. We were there about a month ago (overlooking the pool area and it looked great). The pool area is not tiny IMO.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Palazzo twice (its quickly becoming my favorite place to stay on the strip) and loved it. I%26#39;ve also stayed at the Wynn and TheHotel. For a group, TheHotel actually might be better, simply because it connects to Mandalay Bay and all of the great clubs, bars, restaurants, etc., but the Palazzo is also pretty fabulous and in a better location, IMO. The pool area is not tiny at all and also connects to the Venetian pools. I think you%26#39;ve made a great choice and your party will be a hit.

Palazzo pool area is far from tiny and beautifully landscaped. You are allowed to use the Venetian pool if you prefer but I can%26#39;t imagine why you would.

The Palazzo is fabulous. We%26#39;ve stayed there and must laugh at the negative comments. I like it so much better than the Wynn (we%26#39;ve stayed there also) , but if you think you booked it against better judgement then change to the Wynn. Who cares - do what you want to do.

I think that the cost is like 30 bucks cover, but I%26#39;m not sure. I%26#39;ve only been there for bottle service or after being set up with entry by our host.

As for drink prices, I%26#39;m not sure but I remember they are some of the more expensive -- even by club standards. Also, they sometimes seem to be at the discretion of the bartender.

Speaking strictly of the club. It%26#39;s easily me and the group I usually travel with%26#39;s favorite place. I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s a more ';mature'; crowd than the one you would see at Pure or Body English. Plenty of barely legal and 25ish partiers, but a lot more in their late 20%26#39;s to around 40 as well. I think the design is great and the patio with the waterfall is good. Music has always been top notch when we%26#39;ve been there and I%26#39;ve found their staff to be very helpful and respectful.

IMHO, Tryst is the best club in Vegas. But, a lot of that is because it has what I%26#39;m looking for. Any club is going to be ridiculously expensive, so I don%26#39;t let whether or not I could do another club for 25-40 bucks cheaper over the course of the night get in the way of making a good decision about where to go.

In particular, I recommend their Thursday nights.

When I was there over Labor Day weekend, there was a sign that said cover for women was $20 and men was $50. I%26#39;m sure the prices were higher fo rthe holiday, but I would still expect $30-40 for men.

Bus trip from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon

I am planning to go with a group of friends and family (about 70 of us) to Grand Canyon from Las Vegas for a day trip in Dec. I was inquiring about different bus companies that would be reasonable and also reliable. Have looked into grandtourslv.com. Feedback and opinions would be appreciated.

have you read some of the CC reviews and posts? It%26#39;s truly a horrible place. I know not what you want to hear, better now if you have the time, budget and ability to book elsewhere you might consider doing so.

cirucs circus is the biggest ghetto in vegas. i used to stay there all the time and last time it even got to ghetto for my ghetto arse.....you should stay at riviera instead for similar rate and location

Everyone who is not a vegas regular should read as many trip reports as possible on any hotel, they are thinking of booking. they are all different levels.

Flights are too costly to stay in an dump in a less than good location.

TAO Bottle Service

Going to TAO the first weekend in October and wondering whether anyone has experience with bottle service in their skyboxes, or in the dance floor area. Both are a premium cost, but wondering if anyone can recommend one over the other.

Another option is to go to their Opium Room or TAO Beach (up on the roof), both of which are very cool areas, but further from the main club.

Suggestions are welcome! Thanks much.

Last I saw it was 5 bottle minimum on the dance floor. But that%26#39;s where the action is at. Bottles are about $475. Figure that each bottle will run you $600 with tip and extras. With bottle service, Tao is very hard to get into without lady power.

I%26#39;ve always enjoyed bottle service in the Opium room and always request the opium room. I know the main room is definetly where it%26#39;s at and where you may bump into celeb%26#39;s, but I feel the main room is just way too packed! Skybox%26#39;s would definetly be cool if money isn%26#39;t an issue. I think Tao Beach is kind of boring but if you are looking for a different scene and want to be by the water and don%26#39;t want it as packed, then that%26#39;s the way to go. The weather will be nice probably as well. Whatever you do, do not get a table in the lounge as that is a complete waste of money.

Thanks miles and ez - is the Opium Room the room on the right as you walk into the club (with 2 doors to enter/exit), before you get to the main nightclub area? I assume that%26#39;s it, but if so then where is ';the lounge'; that you suggest avoiding? Or if that room is the lounge, then where is the Opium Room??

The main room is always packed, so it would be kinda cool to have a place of our own to hang there, and I%26#39;m wondering if the skyboxes would feel too separated from the action. Not really interested in TAO Beach at night, though it%26#39;s a cool scene during the day.

The lounge is the first floor area.. It is where you will go through to get into the dining room as well as when you walk up the stairs. once you get to the top of the stairs if you go to the right, that%26#39;s the main room. if you go to the left the Opium room will be on the left side. There are 2 entrances/exits and the Opium room has it%26#39;s own bathroom area as well as one bar. Just outside the opium room is another bar, the elevator, and the entrance for the flight of stairs out to Tao Beach.

How far ahead should i make room reservations?

We make our reservations as soon as we know we are going - directly with the hotel/casino we plan to stay at. As we wait, and wait, and wait, we check the hotel%26#39;s internet prices to see if the rates go down. If they do, we call and ask for the lower rate. They won%26#39;t give you the lower rate unless you ask.

LovesVegas is correct. If you see a rate you%26#39;re reasonably happy with then book now. There%26#39;s always the chance that rates will go up and should this happen you%26#39;re locking in the rate that you%26#39;ve booked at.

Nothing to stop you calling the hotel more than once if rates keep coming down. Vegas hotel rates for any given dates can fluctuate as time passes and may change more than once.

If you do make a reservation, be sure to check the cancelation policy. Some of the lowest rates/specials mean that you cannot cancel without losing all your money if you see something better.

We have just booked for April 09, but if i see a better deal somewhere else, I will cancel our exisiting reservations and rebook elsewhere. However, if nothing changes at least I know we have somewhere to stay at a rate we can afford.

April 2009 - Should I wait for Hotel Offers?

We%26#39;re off to LV next April (12 - 19) we%26#39;ve booked flights but not a hotel - the question is, should we wait until nearer the time, or a little longer to book a hotel to see if there are any offers around for any of the better hotels? I don;t know how busy LV is likely to be around then, as we have only ever been in Nov, which was not too bad. Last time we stayed at the Sahrara, which actually was a pleasant surprise when we got there, and not at all a bad experience, so we could go there again, but we%26#39;re still %26#39;shopping around%26#39; - just wondered what any of you guys thought, as I know we%26#39;re going during the Easter break.

April 2009 - Should I wait for Hotel Offers?

Could be a busy time and I would book as soon as possible, you can always change if you had to. Book with the hotel if you can instead of your travel agent. The Sahara might have been a pleasant surprise to you and it is to people who have never experienced LV Hotels but believe me its not one of LV finest or even close to it. You might find deals at other lower priced Hotels closer to center strip.

I would book now at a place where you like the both the property and price. Make sure you know the cxl policy and can do so.

Keep researching options, know what you are looking for, and make changes/cxl as needed.

We were helping friends yesterday who are looking for 5-9 rooms in July, 2009, not big enough for group sales, and we did book the rooms - I think we have a good chance rates are higher next year, even in the summer.

You have picked a busy time, high demand=high prices.

You have time and flexibility, use both to your advantage.

Definitely book now if you see something you can live with. Then keep checking websites and sign up for any e-mail notifications from hotels. Check to make sure you can cancel your reservations ( you can with most reservations but check to be sure). If the rates go down-contact the hotel for the lower rates or if you find something better- cancel and book at the new hotel.

Easter break means the rates are probably going to be high.

Book the best available deal now, then starting in Feb. watch, every week, www.smartervegas.com for a chance at a better deal.

I booked my hotel for 5/3/09 to 5/10/09 but I can%26#39;t find any airfare yet, I thought I was too early for that.

I would book now. We just booked the last available studio unit at the Polo Towers for the week of April 26, 2009. If you have a particular preference in a room type or location, the sooner the better.

The Huge NAB convention takes place on April 20-23 but hotels will be very busy from a couple of days prior to this with very high rates. Definitely book something as soon as possible if only to cover yourself for the last few nights of your trip.

try the luxors site and click on the mvp offer, me and my wife are going on april 9th for a week and only paid $646 which is very cheap and its a nice hotel, we were there last april and paid $980 for the same week,vegas is pretty busy in april but we%26#39;ve been in august before an thought then was busier.hope this is of use to you,enjoy.

Downtown - When to Go During The Day

I%26#39;ve collated some information from this forum about downtown, but we%26#39;re unsure exactly when to go during the day.

Would people recommend getting down there for breakfast?

Or lunch?

How much time do you think we%26#39;d need to spend down there to take in the experience?

Downtown - When to Go During The Day

Daniel, unless you%26#39;re planning on gambling in some of the Downtown casinos there%26#39;s really no need to head there in the daytime without a specific reason.

Evenings are when Fremont Street comes alive. Head there about an hour or so before it gets dark, grab something to eat, a few drinks here and there, enjoy the light show and leave when you%26#39;re good and ready.

Downtown - When to Go During The Day

Daniel, the Fremont experience is free. There are street vendors selling thier wares, but that is up to you what you will spend. The Fremont and Main Street Station both have excellant breakfast buffets IMO. You could spend the afternoon wandering in and out of the casinos there, but please realize they are very close together - nothing like the strip.

There are no afternoon shows or any afternonn entertainment DT. In fact, I think the only show (besides the Fremont experience) is Defending the Caveman at the Golden Nugget.

I also urge you to go at night. We were downtown twice prior to our last trip, both night visits. There were tons of people and energy and we had a lot of fun.

Our last trip we made the mistake of going downtown during the day - it was depressing. It was like a ghosttown outside. There were hardly any people out walking around - there were people in the casino%26#39;s but it felt different.

Next time we go, I%26#39;m going to wait until 9ish before heading down.

food and drinks are definately alot more cheaper down at freemont street than on the strip. we headed down there at about 5pm after doing the stratosphere - and didn%26#39;t get back until 11pm - and we aren%26#39;t big gamblers - next time i would be tempted to stay down there and only go to the strip for the shows etc

It%26#39;s ironic Daniel, but we%26#39;re downtown rats and we plan our excursions during the day. After breakfast, we%26#39;ll fire up the Mustang, drop the top, and head out to places like: Mount Charleston, Valley of Fire, Goodsprings%26#39; Pioneer Saloon, the ghost town in Rhyolite near Beatty, Death Valley, Lake Mead, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and yes, shopping.

After dinner or a show we%26#39;ll head back to our downtown hotel for a night of revelry, debauchery and gambling. Downtown shines at night!

I disagree, I hated the FSE, very loud and annoying.

I arrived Downtown late morning and I loved that there were very few people walking around. I loved the fact that all the casinos were right next to each other, makes casino hoping fun.

orangectyny posted that there were no afternoon shows downtown, but forgot about Viva Las Vegas at the Plaza. For $9.95 it%26#39;s cheap enough and proves that vaudeville lives on. Showtime is 2 pm and 4 pm.

Dark Sunday when all the losing gamblers attend at a church service to pray their luck will change.

You can check out the Fremont Street Experience from The Dome lounge in the Plaza too. The joint%26#39;s open from 4 pm to midnight during the week and longer on Saturday and Sunday (beware that it%26#39;s dark Tuesday and Wednesday for no good reason).

There%26#39;s no noise or dogs there so Tia doesn%26#39;t have to disagree.

Also at the Plaza, Showtime 7:30 pm: The Rat Pack is Back. They have a dinner show, and a regular show, and half price tickets are usually available at the 4 Queens Tix4Tonite Booth. I think the half price regular show tickets run about $30 per. The shows are actually at the same time, but the dinner show arrives earlier. Not sure of the time.

Honeymooner, you can hike around the downtown area in

a couple of hours if you don%26#39;t stop to refresh yourself or gee-gaw and gamble a teensy bit, or have a pleasant lunch or dinner. Otherwise you can spend all day there -how long does it take in Oxford Street in London if you include Knightsbridge?
