We were there for lunch last Septemeber and it is still one of the top buffets I have experienced in Vegas. We have been to the Wynn, Bellagio, Rio and others and I found the Spice Market to be really good.

We got back on Wednesday and had breakfast there. It%26#39;s been around a long time and was good value for money. Overall I prefer Mandalay Bay breakfast buffet, but would eat here again.

Can%26#39;t comment on lunch or dinner as the last time we had dinner there was 2007.

I personally liked it better when it was Aladdin%26#39;s buffet. We went there for breakfast on my recent visit. I was a little turned off that they had a stack of pre-made crepes that they would throw back into the pan and warm up and then fill with what you want (vs. Paris%26#39; buffet where they make them right there for you from scratch - that%26#39;s the best). We were there mid-week, so maybe that made a difference. They had good fruit though I believe. The decor is nothing special. The food was fine. I liked the atmosphere better at Mandalay, Paris, or the best - Wynn. Like I said, maybe it was being there midweek. All of the buffets are a little better on the weekends it seems.

they feature Alaskan King Crab....almost every plate I SAW HAD SOME ON THEM....2 WEEKS AGO

I consider it the best value on the Strip. It has the best selection overall, probably like 10 stations with great quality food.

Along with Mandalay Bay and Wynn those are the buffets I%26#39;m willing to go back to.

Paris is a little dissapointment for me. Not much variety but ambience is great.

I finally went to the Spice Market for lunch and I was not impressed at all. (July 2008)

I found the food to be tasteless. The local Golden Corral at home had better tasting food.

Maybe I was expecting so much more because a lot of people recommend it.

Do they have real Mashed Potatoes and Hush Puppies? Those seem to be the type of food that most are concerned with these days.

We always try a new steakhouse every year for our anniversary. Last year was the N9ne and we loved it! We%26#39;ve also had Luxor which was also very good and Wolfgang pucks inside MGM. we have not had a bad experience yet....

I headed to Brand but didn%26#39;t sit down because of the loud club music they play in there. Yeah, I guess if the music is too loud, I%26#39;m too old.

Try Les Artistes at Paris or the Steakhouse at Circus Circus. Both were very good.

We had a terrible experience...hair in my food and the management was so rude on top of it. They tries to tell us that is was some kind of ';fiber'; . I would not recommend it

Any advice on Grand Canyon tours and hotels with a good position on the strip?

The last time we visited we stayed at the Luxor which was nice but quite a long way from everything.

We have visited in December and February. Weather was better in February, but best hotel rates in December, as long as it%26#39;s after the rodeo - after the 2nd week.

Even though the weather was better in February, it was fine in December, just need a jacket. It%26#39;s always a nice day in Happy Land!

Impossible to give hotel advice without the slightest clue about budget. How much per night are you looking to spend?

I like Mirage because of it%26#39;s central location.

Just how cool is cool? Is it likely to still be sunny in November?

We were thinking of perhaps a 4 star hotel with decent rooms and a convenient position - not too pricey say around $100/ £150 per night(per room).

Any advice on Grand Canyon trips? South rim or West rim?...

As Gabby said, a little clarification on your budget requirements is required! Be aware that weekends are WAY more expensive in Vegas. A room that%26#39;s say $99 per night on Sunday through Thursday can easily be $250-300 per night on Friday and Saturday.

It can easily be a lot hotter or cooler than the average for any given day. Check a forecast as you%26#39;re about to pack.

Regarding Grand Canyon, avoid the ';West Rim'; at all possible. See the South Rim at Grand Canyon National Park for a genuine Grand Canyon experience. Ideally you should spend a night there to fully experience the canyon in all its glory. I%26#39;m sure others will recommend companies to use.

We will probably be staying for 7 nights and are aware that hotel rates differ from night to night so to avoid more confusion I%26#39;d say we are looking at weekday rates of around $100/150 per room per night and weekend rates around $250. I wasn%26#39;t thinking about the Bellagio or similar because that would be too expensive - but a good quality hotel in the middle of the strip would be fine.

We will visit the South rim - possibly the helicopter tour, but were also wondering about the skywalk - would that be worth a visit?

Any advice on shows etc - we are two older (60+) but very young at heart couples.

we went in june this year and booked direct on the internet for the venetian and got brilliant rates so I would check out all the websites (we paid $189 avaerage a night)we also did a helicopter to canyon with maverick which was brilliant but if you want to do a sunset flight might be worth booking as soon as you arrive or before you go as these sell out very quickly. we also did phantom as my hubbie as never seen but they are completely different to what we have in london but was really good. hope you have a good trip

Hello Pollylou, we are also both 63 (going on 16!) went to Vegas 6 years ago for 5 days, but realized it was not long enough, so guess what?.we are off again in 47 days for 16 days at Signature. I believe this is a very popular hotel with UK people. We love the idea it has a balcony. Not sure you will have time, but we booked for an overnight stay at Holiday Inn express near the Canyon South Rim. It was very very reasonable and includes a continetal breakfast. So here%26#39;s the deal. My friends and I are going to Vegas from Oct 23-Oct 26th and we booked a room at the stratosphere. But I realized that the Startosphere is way up the strip and we would rather stay st the cener strip. Good thing is the reservation we got with them is refundable.

Does anybody know of any good promotional deals for the Mirage or Flamingo for October? I found some but they don%26#39;t apply for the weekend and the price for that weekend is up the roof (our deal at the Stratosphere for 4 people came out to $392 total). Or is the startosphere a good hotel and should we just stay there? Thanks any advice is helpful! (f.y.i. we%26#39;re going for my 21st bday and it%26#39;s our last year in college hence the price issue)

Are those places nightclubs? I only consider places like Pure to be nightclubs.

the clubs at the hard rock are the only ones where you might feel old.

Last trip to Vegas, we hung out by the pool @ The Flamingo. My wife and I fell in love with their ';Slushies';. It was our first time for Slushies.

My question is, are they all the same, or are the ones at Flamingo the only ones like it? Can we get similiar flavors at the MGM?

Fat Tuesdays is awesome. They are also at Caesars, MGM, and Stratosphere. Maybe elsewhere, but for sure at these locations. My guess is the flavors would be similar at these locations.

If you are near NY NY they have Coyote Ugly there that has a bar on the side you can buy slushy drinks from and they are really good too. Fat Tuesdays is my favorite though. They always have about a dozen or more different flavors, which you can sample before buying.

Quick question about Fat Tuesdays. If you get a refill, then it%26#39;s a discount right? So I still have my cup from about 3 months ago, if I bring it can I still use it?

A word of warning to slushie consumers - always get a sample. Last year I got a mudslide downtown, took one sip and almost lost my rather expensive dinner from Golden Nugget. The entire thing went in the trash - wah!!

2009 NASCAR Weekend

February 27 - March 1, 2009

Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Rates will go high this weekend, and a few days before and a few days following Race Weekend. Alot of Fans go for a week. Might want to avoid that time period, unless Youre going to the Race, of course! :)

I%26#39;ve been to vegas twice during race week- my schedule doesn%26#39;t allow for much other down time. The stadium holds over 110,000, there are 40 or 50 teams involved in the whole weekend with a team being up to 70 people, and 200 sponsors with 10-50 reps each.

In terms of pure impact on the city of vegas I believe that NASCAR week is the biggest flood of people annually.

I know... I know... What about CES? What about NYE? What about The Superbowl?

Sure, these are ';vegas-centric'; periods of each year, but NASCAR week is now more than 7 days, there are special events every day and people I spoke with were commuting into vegas from SOCAL to avoid the crush and prices.

Both years I survived NASCAR week were also the National Food %26amp; Beverage convention- the reason I showed up- and there were 15,000 of just us.

Hectic, fun times and I%26#39;m not a NASCAR fan. I did meet Ben Rothlesberger, though- a big racing dude I heard.

Anyway, yes- you will fully feel the race effect if you go to vegas during these days/nights. Cannot avoid it.

RealDad: Great numbers there representing NASCAR, and you are so right, that entire week for Racing, there is always something going on!!! Going Wednesday to Wednesday, driver appearances, meets and greets, all for the Fans! :)

Wouldn%26#39;t miss it for the world! Its an annual event for us! We love it, but we are NASCAR FANS, hard not to be when You live in Nascar Country. ;)

Even for a ';civilian'; like me- I thought it was AWESOME. You%26#39;re standing on the sidewalk and the entire squad- with rigs- slowly crawls by, horns and music blazing. It was thrilling to be that close.

Then each driver broke off for personal appearances in different hotels. Classy, fun and a great memory.
