any runners out there?

I%26#39;m going to Vegas in November for 4 days (Thu-Mon) and it will be in the middle of marathon training so I will need to do a run while I%26#39;m there. I%26#39;ve decided to stay in teh middle of all the action at Harrah%26#39;s, which is great but running around there would probably be waaay too busy.

So, can anyone recommend a running route (don%26#39;t even mention the treadmill, zzzz!!) starting from Harrah%26#39;s but that gets onto roads that aren%26#39;t too busy?

Thanks!!

any runners out there?

Travel, when we in Vegas in late Nov. and early Dec., there were several runners right on the Strip early in the morning. We were up and out with our huge mug of coffee just walking to get a tiny bit of exercise out on the Strip and saw several wooshing by without looking like they had much trouble navigating the area at all....looked like it was fun way to see the sights in a full-out run.

.....dang that no-edit-button......';when we WERE in Vegas';.......sorry

You can on the strip early in the morning. Go to mapmyrun.com or http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ and set up your route.

My other half ran while in Vegas, and he posts on here under this screen name too so he may chime in a bit later when he gets back. I%26#39;m also a runner, always in training for a marathon or a half but I was actually in town for a fitness conference in July so running was out of the question with all the working out I was doing already :). Anyway...during that week he ran the strip in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds, around 7 AM. There were not many people out and about aside from the other runners. Vegas is a night town and the mornings are quite quiet generally. The strip actually makes for quite a challenging run as you have to play Rocky and climb some steps along the route if I recall. If you are needing a high mileage long run, you can check out the LV Marathon website and get a route map which will give you up to the 26 needed. For a shorter mid-distance run you can easily get 6 + miles on the strip.

Boy, you guys have really got it together. If I tried to run while I was in Vegas, I would have a heart attack. Too many late nights, booze, good eats, etc.

I agree, I run at home. I don%26#39;t run in Vegas.

We were staying at caesars in July and I went out for several runs early in the morning, I was out by 6am and it was lovely not too hot and there was a lot of shade from the buildings so I found it quite comfortable ~ I only did a max of 7 miles as I was training for a triathlon so didn%26#39;t need to do long runs so I just ran up one side of the strip then down the other. There were quite a few runners and walkers out so I felt completely safe on my own and it was no problem crossing the junctions as there was hardly any traffic

Have a great trip and enjoy your running ~ I wish I could have that view on all my runs ( wet grey cloudy britain is not quite the same!!)

Yep...other half reporting in here LOL :)

I enjoyed the run on the strip. It%26#39;s 2.5 miles from the Wynn to Mandalay Bay so you can definitely configure some routes with distance there...check out www.mapmyrun.com, put it on %26#39;hybrid%26#39; view and plot your course!

There ARE a couple of walkways that go over roads to which you%26#39;ll have to climb up 20 or so steps and then back down on the other side, but playing Rocky in the middle of a run can be quite fun.

Also make note that there is construction around City Center (between Monte Carlo and Bellagio) and you may not want to run on that side of the strip as a result.

As stated, I ran around 7am in the morning...the strip was not crowded at all and I was pleased to see a bunch of other runners out there sweating out the previous nights alcohol consumption ;)

We had stayed at the LV Hilton, so from there down to Luxor and back was a nice 6 miles...I think the route was totally safe as well.

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the runs!! Good luck with your upcoming marathon too
