We will be in town in mid October, NOT over Friday or Saturday nights. I fully understand that if we wish to eat in any of the upscale, high end restaurants or the %26#39;big name%26#39; places, we must make dinner reservations in advance. I%26#39;ve already started doing this. My question is: For the buffets (including say the Bellagio or Wynns) and the casual dining restaurants in these large hotels, do you need reservations in the evening for dinner? Also, is there a peak time to avoid?
Are restaurant reservations necessary?

Moot point as the buffets don%26#39;t take reservations, nor do most of the casual dining places. (If you can give examples of some of the places you%26#39;re looking into in the ';Casual'; category we can give more specified advice)

Thanks Irishfan. Logically, I wouldn%26#39;t expect buffets to take reservations. It%26#39;s just that I got the impression, from a completely different posting on this forum, that there was some sort of system for busy periods and weekends. I%26#39;m not wishing to make reservations as I wish the flexibility of deciding where and when I eat as the mood and hunger takes me. It%26#39;s just that some of the eating options in LV are so hyped up, that it seems some effort or strategic planning may be required, if not actual reservations, if I want to eat there. As this will be my first visit, I%26#39;m not sure how things work. I have no names of casual places as I don%26#39;t know what the options in the hotels we will be in are yet, or other nearby choices. Am researching all that, too, at the moment.
Vegas has been quiet. I doubt you%26#39;ll need reservations anywhere during the week. Maybe a few in-demand places may be full around 7-8pm but you shouldn%26#39;t have any problems getting a table anywhere else. Buffet lines are long, there is not way around that other than a VIP pass.
For our Sun-Thurs trips reservations have not been needed except for the nicer restaurants of if we have a show to see and we need to eat at a certain time. It can be helpful (and yes, some of the casual restaurants DO take reservations) but not necessary.
