should I go?

Hi!

I am considering a trip to Vegas Oct 27-31. I%26#39;ve never been to Vegas and will have to go solo as my Fiance has to work and I will be on holidays. Should the ';first timer and solo'; thing deter me from going? any advice? thanks!

should I go?

what makes me wonder if you should go is that you have chosen to ask complete strangers on the internet for an opinion on something so important. if you can%26#39;t make this determination for yourself i would say no, don%26#39;t go.

not because LV isn%26#39;t a place for first-time solo travelers.

i don%26#39;t think you, in particular, are ready to travel anywhere as a first-timer solo. if you were you would have the input of your fiance%26#39;, friends/family who know you personally. if you need a strangers help on this you%26#39;re not ready.

should I go?

I don%26#39;t know how much you read this forum, but there have been quite a few trip reports posted by people who have gone solo. Vegas is a great solo destination. As far as being a first-timer, many mistakes can be avoided by reading this forum. (such as not wearing comfortable shoes, drinking enough water, etc.) GO! Have fun!

Bridgefan, it%26#39;s possible that this poster already wants to go and is just looking for a little ';pep talk'; from those that have been. Sometimes a little push in the right direction is all it takes.

Although I do respect your opinion most of the time Bridgey that was just rude.

This person has never been to Vegas let alone by themselves and was just asking if it was ok to do so.

To the poster I have been there alone and it is a great trip solo. No one to answer to and you can do what you want any time of the day.

Go and enjoy.

NOT Everyone has friends/family to discuss things with.

So, that said....

If you feel comfortable traveling places for the first time alone, then you should go.

From my on personal experience, my husband and father would go with no problems, me on the other hand would not.

It really depends on you and what your comfort zone is. This would give you a chance to see the things and places that you would want to take your fiance back to see. Go and have fun.

I%26#39;m going to France next week for the first time and solo. And all the French I know is on a little card that I bought for $2.99 at the gift shop in the Paris casino in Vegas.

By George! Can someone please mail poor lainee_7 the TA Etiquette Book!!!! I mean come on people - everyone knows that family ALWAYS gives the best advice . . . heck, check that, the are the ONLY ones who can ever give advice on such a personal question as this. You can%26#39;t see me right now, but my arms are crossed and my brow is furrowed. Grrrrrr.

:)

Just kidding - sarcasm is very hard to convey - but that last paragraph is covered in it - much like this plate in front of me that has two Eggos begging for a mercy kill due to syrup-intoxication. Messy stuff.

But, I digress. Back to your question.

YES.

The possibilities are endless . . . take the plunge . . .do you want to look back 50 years from now and say that you didn%26#39;t pull the trigger on this trip?

I think solo trips are great! You can do anything you want and see all the attractions you want to see. It has been years since I have been on a solo trip and I would jump at the chance to go solo to Las Vegas.

Lainee,

I assume your fiance is ok about you doing the solo thing. Problem solved. You have picked Las Vegas as a vaction destination. Problem solved. You are wondering if a woman alone in Las Vegas can have a good time and be safe. Are you kidding? You will have the time of your life as long as you use the common sense you would travelling anywhere in the world as a woman travelling alone (this site can help you with this too). You are going mid-week and could probably get into any club you wanted without any hassle, have ';dudes'; buying you drinks, not have to worry about plans (which is why I go solo...everywhere)and not have to worry about anyone reporting on your activities when you get home. Go, have fun and live life. You only get one of them.

Las Vegas is one of the safest and funnest cities in the world.

This is a world class destination that should not be under estimated.

If you get a chance to go, then you should take it.

People all over the world would give anything to go.

Enjoy yourself, this place is truly one of a kind!!
