Home a week and ready to go back!!!

We have been home a week from Vegas and I think I%26#39;ve finally recovered. DH and I stayed in a comped grand tower room at MGM Grand this time and thoroughly enjoyed it. We arrived on Sept 10 and used the airport checkin which is the greatest! It is such a timesaver. We asked for strip view and got it and our room was ready even though it was only 11:30 a.m. We rode the shuttle (I told DH this is the last time, next time it%26#39;s taxi!) Our room was very nicely furnished, heavenly beds, huge bathroom and a nice view of the south end of the strip, airport and mountains, gorgeous! We got our things all stowed away, my purse changed over and away we went. We played for awhile at MGM then went to the other properties on the south end. I ended up hitting 4 aces at MB on VP which was nice but that was about the extent of our luck for that day.

The next day, we went to the animal habitat at Mirage and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the dolphins. We always have good luck at Sahara so rode the monorail down there but lady luck was not with us this trip. Oh, well!!! We came back to Harrahs and Flamingo for awhile but no luck. Spent the rest of the day playing slots at MGM Grand and had a little bit of luck on VP. Just seems like everything was tighter this trip but I guess that happens.

I was sitting at a slot machine playing one night at MGM Grand and noticed a man and woman next to me. She was sitting down and they were both playing the machine next to me. It took me a few minutes to notice that he was holding a baby while playing slots!!! I kept waiting for someone to come and tell them to leave but no one did. Finally, the cocktail waitress came and told the man he would have to take the baby out of the gaming area. I also saw another man playing slots with his baby in the stroller next to him. It didn%26#39;t take security long to ask him to move. Unbelievable, people playing slots with their kids!!! Crazy!! We saw more kids this time than we have every seen and most of them were at MGM Grand.

The next night, I was sitting at a slot machine doing pretty well and a couple of ASian ladies came and stood next to where I was sitting. All of a sudden, one of them started screaming as loud as she could at the other one in ';Asian'; and shaking her finger at the other lady who just stood there. She screamed for I bet 5 minutes like a crazy woman. Everyone just stared at them and finally they left! And those were the most ';exciting'; things that happened our whole trip!!!

This trip, we just took it easy and really didn%26#39;t do a whole lot but it was so nice. We spent quite a bit of time in our room just relaxing and spending quality time and it really was nice. It wasn%26#39;t our usual, run, run, run Vegas trip but we had a good time anyway.

DH has always wanted to check out Sams Town so we took the shuttle from the tropicana out there on Friday and really had a pretty good time. They had a few machines I had never seen before that were really fun and we won a little. I hit 4 aces again and several other 4 of a kind. It was fun but I don%26#39;t know that I would ever want to go back there again.

Anyway, that%26#39;s about it, nothing very exciting and definitely not our ';usual'; Vegas trip but it did us alot of good to get away. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at MGM Grand. It is big but after the first day, we were able to find our way around without much problem.

Now if I could just start planning my next trip but DH wants to try an Alaskan cruise next which would probably be great but Vegas is still my favorite place to go. Good luck to everyone!!!

Home a week and ready to go back!!!

Guess I%26#39;m more bo....ring than I thought!

Home a week and ready to go back!!!

Hey there....you are NOT boring!!!! It is just quiet here today, and I%26#39;m not feeling well so kind of been checking in now and then today.

I liked the part about the women screaming and wonder what the excitement was all about! LOL

If your hubby wants to take an Alaskan cruise, you may tell him I suggest waiting since the 50th Birthday of the state is January 3, 2009 so I am assuming many people will want to visit Alaska next year to celebrate their milestone (on the other hand, there may be many specials because of their 50th)

We went about 5 years ago and thought it was a wonderful trip (we cruised the inside passage)

Vegas is always my #1 destination though :)

Thanks Ducky! I appreciate the info about Alaska. I%26#39;ll tell DH about the anniversary and maybe we can go to Vegas again next year instead and save the Alaskan cruise for 2010. Sounds like a ';great'; idea to me!!!! He is not as crazy about Vegas as I am so I have to come up with some creative ideas sometimes to get to go!!! I really need to go at least once a year!! You know how it is!!!

Hope you%26#39;re feeling better!!

So maybe he would be interested in seeing City Centre when it%26#39;s complete, go to the dam, go to Valley of Fire or Red Rock...Mr. Ducky likes seeing those kinds of things so maybe he will, AND it gets us away from the strip so gets our minds of Vegas for a little bit. (at least it%26#39;s worth a try) :)

Thanks again, Ducky for the great advice. I%26#39;ll have to suggest that to him. I think he would like seeing those things also. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can talk him into another trip to Vegas next year!!! If I can%26#39;t, I may have just to plan a ';girls'; trip with my daughters-in-law!!!

Thanks for the TR! Just wondering how were the crowds in the Casinos, Strip and the Restaurants? Fairly normal, busy, or lighter than usual?

We are going next month (Oct), and hoping that the slot machines are not jam-packed as they were during Nascar week in March! Which Casino seemed to be less or more crowded?

We have never been to Sam%26#39;s Town, and have never really wandered away from the Strip, but since we have a rental car we plan to check out some of the casinos off strip. We were thinking perhaps of dropping in at Sams Town, South Point, or Orleans. I loved hearing that Sams Town had some new machines that You had not seen anywhere else. :)

Any advice, would be great!

Thanks again for taking the time to post, and it was not boring!

Maybe the ladies wanted to play on your machine and you spoilt there plans!!

Thanks for the TR. How long (time-wise) is the shuttle ride from the Trop to Sam%26#39;s Town? Also, is it a 24 hour shuttle or does it just run during certain times?

Carolina,

The hotels weren%26#39;t jam packed while we were there but it seemed like there were quite a few people at night at MGM and the other hotels on that end of the strip but there was a big convention at MB that week so that could account for some of it and the big boxing match was at MGM Grand that Sat so I%26#39;m sure that had something to do with it also.

GoBlue, I%26#39;m thinking it was about a 15 minute ride to Sam%26#39;s Town. I had never seen that part of Vegas so we enjoyed the ride. I think the shuttles run about every hour and a half and picks up at Bills and Tropicana I know for sure. We picked up a brochure from one of the bell boys at Tropicana and it has all the times and places that the shuttle picks up. We went from Trop because we were staying at MGM Grand. I enjoyed visiting Sam%26#39;s Town and like I said, we saw a few machines that I had never seen before or just never noticed anywhere else maybe. It was fun to get off the strip for awhile.

GO, I forgot to add that the shuttle to Sam%26#39;s Town runs till around 10:00 or 10:30 I think it is at night. You might could find some info on their website.
