taxi from airport

I have been told that if you tell the cabbie that you want to get to your hotel by the fastest route he will go straight and if you don%26#39;t he will take you on the scenic route around the sights. The difference is $20.00 opposed to $40.00. Does this make sense? Or would the shuttle be the better way to get to mid strip?

I wouldn%26#39;t consider the shuttle a better way but some would disagree. You may have to wait until the shuttle fills up and then you may drop off others at their hotels before being dropped off at your hotel. Many people prefer to start their vacations as soon as possible and not have a tour of the back way to hotels.

Just tell the cab driver ';no tunnel'; or tell him to take Swenson. This will prevent him from going through the tunnel which would add to the cost of a cab ride.

Take a cab its faster, depending on what Hotel your staying at might be less expensive then $20.

The difference between the tunnel would not be double the cost but would add at least 5 to 10 more on the bill again depending on Hotel.

How much do you think it would cost to go to the Imperial from the airport by van? There will be 4 of us so a cab would be too small. thanks for any help. Pete

mazman- I would try the taxi...we did a couple years ago %26amp; they took all (4) of us then. And cabbie seemed to fit all of us girls luggage in there!!

pookiesenior- Don%26#39;t make the mistake we did at the beginning of this month our group was so excited to see one another. I forgot to tell cabbie ';no tunnel'; %26amp; went to the Venetian for $32 plus tip.

When I left I made a point to tell cabbie to take the cheap route %26amp; it was $13 plus tip......so there is a big difference!!!

As for shuttle did that one year %26amp; hated it. Just like everyone says on here.. you want to start your vacation ASAP %26amp; with shuttles it could take alot longer depending as to where you are staying.

Have a great trip !!

We went from Airport to MGM and it was around 12 dollars. We didn%26#39;t ask for a specific route.

Cabbies were pretty good to us throughout our holiday. There was one however who complained when we only gave him a one dollar tip for a 8 dollar fare. (It was either that or a 50 note)

';The difference between the tunnel would not be double the cost but would add at least 5 to 10 more on the bill again depending on Hotel. ';

The driver took the tunnel on my recent visit to Planet Hollywood, the fare to PH was $30, the trip back to the airport was $10, so it can be double or more if the driver takes you through the tunnel!

Been twice this year. First time stayed at the IP and cab fare was 25 plus tip. (we got hozed) On the way back to the airport it was 14 plus tip. In the summer I got in the cab told the driver the Flamingo, gave the driver 20 dollars and said get us there the quickest way and the rest is yours to keep knowing it was going to be 14-15 buck fair. Turned out it was like 13.75. Driver got a good tip and we didnt get hosed. The driver thanked us twice and was happy. I highly reccomend paying up front.

The cabs can legally take 5 passengers. They have mini-vans available for the same price and they too can take 5 passengers. This site will give you a rough idea of the minimum cab fares. It does depend on traffic.

we got stung with the cab from the airport to the Mgm.The cab driver was nice and asked us if it was the first time we came to Vegas,we said yes.We got charged 28 dollars from the airport to the Mgm.He brought us the long way and the traffic was quiet at the time.On our return to the airport we were charged 12 dollars, and the traffic was hectic. We gave the driver 20 dollars as he was really nice and did not rip us of.

The ride from a hotel to the airport will almost always cost less money than the ride from the airport to a hotel. This is because of the route that can be taken(Paradise is one way heading towards the airport) and airport fees. This isn%26#39;t related to the ';tunnel'; issue.
