Husband and I are staying at the Venetian Resort the 2nd week in Oct. Never been before, but would like some input on any special must see%26#39;s in the area that are in walking distance and reasonably priced. Any other tips would be nice ex. what to pack and what to expect? Thanks
Staying at the Venetian what's in walking distance?
You can pretty much walk anywhere on the strip from the Venetian. The Wynn is next door and the Mirage and TI are across the street. You can walk all the way down to MGM, NYNY, Luxor, etc in less than an hour and that%26#39;s at a slow pace.
I would say that all of the casino%26#39;s in the area all must see%26#39;s. Check out the sticky on the top of the first page of the forum - I think it%26#39;s labeled ';125 things to do with your family in vegas'; - there%26#39;s lots of free and inexpensive things listed.
My must see%26#39;s and do%26#39;s are the Bellagio fountains, the conservatory at the Bellagio, the lion habitat at MGM, playing Sigma Derby at MGM, walking around the Paris casino, playing craps at Bill%26#39;s, walking around the Wynn casino, playing video poker at the Luxor...I could go on and on.
I would pack layers. It will probably be warm during the day, but a little cooler at night and in the casinos.
My suggestion is to read these posts - especially the trip reports and then you will get an idea of what to expect.
Have fun.

There is lots within walking distance as you are on the Strip. Plenty of other hotels to see close to you, all with bars, restaurants %26amp; entertainment. Get a copy of a map of the Strip via a Google search and check out the individual hotel websites for info on what they have. Have fun!
The weather should still be warm and sunny during the day and cooler at night. But nobody can predict the weather so far in advance so it is always best to bring some clothes that can be layered so you will be prepared for any kind of weather.
Vegas is a casual town. Some people like to dress up at night while others don%26#39;t bother. Except for the clubs and the very expensive restaurants you will see everything from torn jeans right up to formalwear. Wear what you feel comfortable wearing because there are always going to be people dressed more casually than you are and others that are dressed more formally than you are dressed. Just make sure you bring the most comfortable pair of shoes you own because you are going to do an incredible amount of walking no matter where you stay.
If you look at a map you will see what hotels are near you. There is a free tram that runs from the TI to the Mirage that will get you to a more centrally located place. Must sees- the Bellagio conservatory and fountains (free- at night), Eiffel Tower at Paris(fee-I think under $10), Forum Shops at Caesars Palace(a mall and attraction-free) and the canals and ceiling at the Venetian(free). A Cirque show would be nice to see if you have not seen one yet. I would recommend Love or Mystere. Big Elvis puts on a great show a couple of times in the afternoon at Bill%26#39;s- and it is free.
There are so many things to see and do- shopping(regular and outlet), spas, rides, attractions(some free), restaurants(from very cheap to very expensive), shows- that it is hard to say exactly which ones you should definitely see or do. Here is a list of attractions:

I am sure if you are more specific people can help you with various areas: shopping, shows, restaurants, etc. Just post what your interests are and how much you would like to spend on a meal, a show, etc.
