My DH will be having surgery soon, staying a few nights in St. Mary%26#39;s. Can anyone recommend a good hotel within walking distance of the hospital? It%26#39;s in the CircusCircus/Silver Leagcy area. I%26#39;d like to keep it under $100.00 per night, would pay more if worth it. I don%26#39;t smoke or gamble (not without vices-a wine bar would be a plus) and would like to avoid places with huge, smoky casinos.
I never stay in that part of town. Any help would be appreciated.
Downtown hotel recommendations?
Circus Circus is right across the street from St. Mary%26#39;s - I know that because when we stayed there we saws the trauma chopper come in. Since CC, Silver Legacy, and Eldorado are all linked via the upper walkway, you really can avoid that smoky casino atmosphere by using that and accessing the restaurants on that level. CC is the closest in proximity to the hospital, and their rooms are clean and sufficient for one or two people. Depending on the nights (Fri-Sat are generally higher) you s/be able to score a room rate less than $100 at any of those three hotels.
Best of luck to your hubby and his surgery.
Downtown hotel recommendations?
Thanks for the kind wishes. I%26#39;ll check out CC. We stayed there about 20 years ago, small children in tow.
We stayed at CC about 7 or 8 years ago, and had to take the tram every time we wanted to go up to our room or down to the casino level. We found it very inconvenient, and would not stay there again.
Check out Silver Legacy%26#39;s rates, I did recently receive an email from them, but since I am going to Laughlin next month I deleted it. I was in Reno in August and stayed at Harrah%26#39;s, very enjoyable. Not sure about the wine bar though, I tend to have my cocktails in front of the slots, lol.
I really prefer the East Tower at Harrahs with an internet weekday rate of $60. Nicely appointed %26amp; more peaceful than the West tower or The SL, EL %26amp; CC complex %26amp; but another block or two away.
PS I just checked %26amp; Harrahs is showing a $49 rate weekday for most of September/October.
Thanks. everyone! Peddler, I think I%26#39;ll take your advice.
harrahs is a good choice, although it is a few blocks walk from St. Mary%26#39;s.
Misty: you probably stayed in the Sky Tower at CC which has that hideously slow tram. The North Tower is the better one, as no tram is necessary and the elevator opens out right near the hotel checkin area.
Walking a few blocks will be good for me!
