Las Vegas with children

Hi,

can anyone help with the idea of travelling to vegas with children aged 14, 13 and 10.

Is it geared up for adults mainly?

Is there a particular hotel you could recommend?

Thanks

Las Vegas with children

Go in summer only, early June and Sept are good times to go; pool time is a major distraction for children. Stay at MGM.

Shows, pools, side trips, shopping are the main activites, so have a rental car at least part of the time for side trips.

See Mystere, and at least one other show, see vegas.com for show descriptions.

See the 125-things-to-do link at the start of the forum.

Blagger ill make some Popcorn you get the beers!!

Hi

We took our family a few years back and had a great time. Yes it is geared for adult%26#39;s but a short visit can easily be filled with activites, just looking at the casino%26#39;s takes lot%26#39;s of time and doing the things that have no age limit eg a trip to the top of the Stratosphere, riding the coasters at NYNY and Nascar, watching the dancing fountains, the list goes on. Just don%26#39;t go expecting to gamble and you will be fine. There are many hotels that will be good for you, it will come down to personal choice.Here%26#39;s a list

Oz, children in Vegas is a real ';hot'; topic on this forum. Many people believe Vegas isn%26#39;t for kids period and aren%26#39;t afraid to let you know this. Others are happy to suggest it as a family destination. Heated debates are commonplace, tempers get frayed and people can get a little upset! Do a forum search - zillions of old threads to read on this subject and (as has been suggested) look at the ';sticky'; at the top of the forum%26#39;s first page.

oh, I%26#39;m so glad someone asked this question, it has been almost 2 hours since the last post. Hate to be rude, but jeez, how many times will we have to go through this. See the sticky at the top please.

normandog 2 hours has it really been that long LOL

I would vacation in LV from May-Sep for great weather.

Las Vegas can be as big a family destination as Disney as long as you realize it%26#39;s a family vacation and not just for the adults.

Along with swimming, sight seeing and shopping the kids can and will enjoy themselves.

You have a number of great restaurants to dine in and a number of attractions and shows that the kids will enjoy.

I would recommend the MGM.

Yes, the strip is mainly geared towards adults but there are several hotels, attractions that children can enjoy. My children would love Vegas and ask me to take them but I won%26#39;t because it would kill me to be that close to my favorite ';adult'; playplaces and not be able to go. If I had to take my children I%26#39;d go to Mandalay Bay, the pool is fantastic, it%26#39;s close to Luxor and Excalibur, NYNY and MGM, and they have some reasonably priced multiroom suites.

Went there with two 15 year olds a number of years ago and the kids were bored stiff!

If its a short visit then you can do it with kids, but they are unable to be in so many places in vegas that a lengthy stay can get frustrating, particularly if you enjoy drinking/gambling!

Theres plenty to see just walking through casinos, and theres the canyon of course. Pools are important to kids so Mandalay Bay or MGM might be good hotels.

Circus Circus caters to kids, but I recommend visiting rather than staying there.

2 or 3 days with kids, ok. Any more? Probably a hassle. Have a great time.
