Mirage vs. PH for 30 yo Solo Trip

Hi,

I will stay at Vegas the last week of october. For the first three nights (Fr-Sun) it will be the Flamingo Go-Room (got it cheap). Now, I am looking for Mo-Fr and have two options. Which one would you choose?

1) Mirage: Remodeled strip-view room for approx. 450$

2) Planet Hollywood: Hollywood Hip for 400$

I don%26#39;t care about the 50$ difference but am concerned about which one would fit my requirements better:

- Solo trip with mainly playing live poker, some nights going to clubs

- depending on weather: going to the pool for 2-3 hours a day

Thanks lot in advance for your help!

Mirage vs. PH for 30 yo Solo Trip

I posted a similar post asking about PH and the Mirage. Got alot of great tips. Im new so i dont know how to tell you to see it, but you should check out the great advice i got. The post was titled ';I need hotel help';

Mirage vs. PH for 30 yo Solo Trip

MIrage beats PH hands down for pool, but I like PH much better for mid 20s to mid 30 somethings. It%26#39;s got a great fun vibe. Plus, if you%26#39;re spending the first few days at Flamingo, moving south on the Strip to PH would be a nice change. And I think PH is more happening at nights too. I responded in the post mentioned above, but my choice would be PH.

Ok, found the other thread. And here is what I got:

The Mirage is more classy with the way better pool (..but will this be the major point at the end of october...?).

PH attracts the younger vibe - more my age.

Now, my question to the experienced people: Will I really notice the difference of the younger crowd? That means, is the difference that big?

Yes you will notice.

I am 50 and felt the Mirage crowd was older. I find the hotel very calm and kind of boring. (which is not good or bad)

Stay at PH at least you will be at a different location on the strip and close to MGM, etc.

Just my opinion

While I prefer the room at PH, I thinl mirage would be better suited for your trip. As you know there is a huge difference in the pool, but also the poker room at Mirage is much better. This will make a big difference if you want to sit in a game on Tuesday afternoon---Mirage will have a choice of games while PH may only have 1 or 2. Also you have easy access to the excellent poker rooms at Venetian %26amp; Wynn.

Thanks for your quick replies. Another question:

During my last (and first) trip to LV, the concierge gave me some VIP passes to nightclubs. As I stayed at the Flamingo, I%26#39;ve received passes to harrah%26#39;s clubs. Now I am wondering if a concierge offers only passes from the hotel I am staying at - which would be a clear disadvantage to the PH ;-)

I%26#39;m 35 and have stayed at the mirage for the last 4-5 years, I love it! you get a good mix of people there. The weekend draws a big crowd , because of the two nightclubs there.

Thanks again. So here is what I did: I reserved rooms at both ;-) and will cancel one during the next weeks.

My thoughts are

- I like the younger crowd and party atmosphere (+ for the PH)

- The Mirage is somehow more classy/decent (not sure if this is a plus or a minus for me)

- the pool is way better at the mirage (maybe a plus if I can use it, but there may also be more party atmosphere at the PH)

- the PH is central but more south than the Flamingo, so it%26#39;s kind of a new location

- Poker rooms are not the point because I can walk everywhere from the PH (MGM, Mirage, Venetion etc.). That means, I%26#39;ll have the access to them all and I don%26#39;t mind walking for a poker game

So, all in all it is more about the vibe and the pool. As I am on a solo trip, the PH might be the better choice - even in terms of getting to know and watch people?

Please comment my thoughts. Thanks lot!

I%26#39;m in my early 30%26#39;s and I am staying @ the Mirage next month. I have always liked this place. You can%26#39;t go wrong. I stayed @ PH when it was still Aladdin and it wasn%26#39;t all that.

you seem to have it down, i%26#39;d go with planet hollywood. the abc store in the miracle mile shops alone would seal the deal. but the gambling is very friendly at ph and their center bar is a great place to hang out and meet people. that being said, the mirage wouldn%26#39;t be bad either because as you said you don%26#39;t mind walking around and mirage is center strip with a nicer pool. flip a coin. but as ph is cheaper, that might be incentive enough.
